“O’ Christmas Tree!” | How to Safely Decorate For Christmas This Season

people-decorating-christmas-tree

The holiday season is upon us! While there is much to celebrate this time of year, it is also important to keep family safety in mind. Learn how to safely decorate for Christmas this year and for years to come!

How to Safely Decorate For Christmas This Season

Some of my most joyous memories are of decorating the Christmas tree. The hand-made ornaments my sister and I made in the first grade, the tangled ornament hooks from 1990, the leftover glitter and tinsel that lines the bottom of the old ornament boxes – but, most of all, the memories that my family made each year while decorating the tree (and our home) are some of my most treasured, unforgettable moments.

But, did you know…

While Christmas trees are an essential decoration of Christmas, each year Christmas trees start nearly 250 house fires.  Although the number of fires started from Christmas trees is not extremely high, they are extremely serious. One of every 15 reported fires that began with a tree resulted in fatalities.

Not to worry…there are safety measures you and your family can take to make this Christmas (and every Christmas) a safe one!

Preventing Christmas Tree Fires

christmas-tree-in-living-room “O’ Christmas Tree!" | How to Safely Decorate For Christmas This Season

Here are some important fire safety precautions that help to safely decorate for Christmas and can be taken when keeping a live tree in the house.

  • Needles on fresh trees should be green and hard to pull back from the branches. Also, the needle should not break if the tree has been freshly cut.
  • While this may seem odd, the trunk should be sticky to the touch. Older trees can be identified by bouncing the tree trunk on the ground. If many needles fall off, the tree has been cut too long, has probably dried out, and is a probable fire hazard.
  • Ask the seller to cut off 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5cm) off the end. Doing this will improve the tree’s ability to absorb  water, keeping it greener much longer.
  • Do not place your tree close to a heat source – including a fireplace or heat vent. The tree should be at least 3 feet (approximately 1 meter) from any heat source. The heat will dry out the tree, causing it to be more easily ignited by heat, flame, or sparks. Also, be careful not to drop or flick cigarette ashes near a tree.
  • Do not put your live tree up too early or leave it up for longer than two weeks.
  • Keep the tree stand filled with water at all times.
  • Disposing of your tree: Never put tree branches or needles in a fireplace or wood burning stove. When the tree becomes dry, discard it promptly. The best way to dispose of your tree is by taking it to a recycling center or having it hauled away by a community pick-up service.
  • If you’re using a metallic or artificial tree, make sure it is flame retardant.

Taking Proper Care With Holiday Lights

string-christmas-lights “O’ Christmas Tree!" | How to Safely Decorate For Christmas This Season

Part of learning to safely decorate for Christmas comes from being smart about electrical updates. All electrical lights should be treated with care to avoid a potential fire and/or electric shocks. If you can, upgrade to LED (light-emitting diode) lights; these are safer because they do not generate heat.

  • Maintain your holiday lights. Inspect holiday lights each year for frayed wires, bare spots, gaps in the insulation, broken or cracked sockets, and excessive kinking or wear before putting them up. ONLY use lighting listed by an approved testing laboratory.
  • Do not run cords under rugs as this is a major fire hazard.
  • Do not overload electrical outlets. It’s also not a good idea to link more than three light strands per outlet, unless the directions indicate it is safe to do so. Connect strings of lights to an extension cord before plugging the cord into the outlet. Make sure to periodically check the wires – they should never be warm to the touch.
  • Use heavy gauge extension cords as they are much harder to fray and they remain cool.
  • While it mat not look as nice, tape down cords that are in traffic areas and could easily be tripped over. Blue masking tape will keep the cords firmly in place against the floor and prevent tripping – without damaging paint.

Other Precautions for a Safe and Memorable Holiday

Be alert to the hazards holiday decorations can cause. While they are undoubtedly festive, holiday decorations can become fire hazards or choking hazards if not placed thoughtfully. Here are some things to be aware of:

  • Use only nonflammable decorations. All decorations should be nonflammable or flame-retardant. Place decorations away from heat vents.
  • Never put wrapping paper in a fireplace. It can result in a very large fire, throwing off dangerous sparks and embers that may result in a chimney fire.
  • Keep small and breakable decorations out of the reach of babies, toddlers, cats, dogs, and any other pets. Ornaments can easily be swallowed and turn into choking hazards when curious hands and paws get hold of them. In addition, take care when hanging tinsel or stringed decorations to avoid tripping or strangulation hazards.
  • Do not put ornaments that have small parts or metal hooks, or look like food or candy on the lower branches where small children can reach them.

christmas-candles “O’ Christmas Tree!" | How to Safely Decorate For Christmas This Season

Be candle wise! While candles are a long-loved tradition for some families at Christmas, they can also be a major fire hazard if left unattended or near flammable items.

  • Avoid using lit candles if possible. If you do use them, make sure they are in stable holders and place them where they cannot be easily knocked down. Never leave the house with candles burning. If you think you’re going to be distracted, consider putting them out when you leave the room.
  • NEVER put lit candles on a tree. Do not go near a Christmas tree with an open flame – candles, lighters, or matches.
  • Do not put candles out by blowing. Blowing on them can send sparks and hot wax flying, which can easily cause a fire. It is safer to extinguish them with a snuffer or a spoon.

5 Emergency Water Storage Tips For Preppers Like You

emergency-water-storage-featured-image

Studies have shown that we can survive for three days without water, but even with that margin, can you really guarantee that your current water stock will even last for three days? Natural disasters around the world proved that the first things to go scarce are food and water. Emergency water storage is often the number one thing preppers take into consideration simply because water is important for hydration and for cleaning. So as a prepper, what are the things you need to consider for water storage?

This article is courtesy of OutdoorWarrior.Com and shared with permission.

What’s Your Emergency Water Storage Strategy?

The human body is made up of roughly 70 percent water, which is why our physiology requires us to be constantly hydrated. But what happens when natural disasters or calamities strike and cause water shortage all throughout? Emergency water storage is your best option and will save you and your family’s life in times of desperate need. When done right, you will be able to stock up on clean and potable water for months. So, as a prepper, water helps you survive, and survival is everything.

1. Identify Your Containers

You need to choose the suitable water containers. There are several types of containers that you can use in storing water such as food-grade water containers, plastic soft drink bottles, glass containers and stainless steel tanks if you want to collect rainwater. Be sure to clean and disinfect containers first before storing water in it. Learn more about water containers for long term storage here.

2. Water Preservation And Treatment

Water Preservation And Treatment | 5 Emergency Water Storage Tips For Preppers Like You

There’s no need to add anything if you’re using tap water or if it is already treated commercially. But if it’s from a well or from a public place, you have to make sure that it is safe to drink before storing it. You can use chlorine, iodine, and calcium hypochlorite. If you’re going to use chlorine, you need to add two drops of non-scented chlorine for every two liters of water. This is to prevent bacteria and other pathogens from building up. Plus there are readily available water tablet purifier out in the market that you can purchase. Check out the link for more info in making your water safe in a survival situation.

3. Store Your Water

It is important to store your water in a cool, dry and dark place where it won’t be exposed to sunlight. UV rays have an effect on containers and on chlorine as well. Where you keep your water is significant for emergency preparedness.

4. Water Replacement

It is  necessary to replace stored water after 6 months, especially  homemade stored water. This is to avoid any contaminants that can build up inside the bottle over a long period of time.

5.  Look For Other Water Sources

Water that you’re going to store is not only for drinking. There are other uses of water such as bathing, and cleaning cookware and kitchen utensils. Of course, we also need to be mindful of our hygiene. Look for other sources of water like melted ice cubes, water from canned goods and specific trees and plants. Learn more about other water sources here.

Water, as we know it, is one most important substance on this planet, and when SHTF, I just can’t imagine how devastating it is to live without water. Clean, potable water. Drought and natural disasters can take away our access to clean water, so we need to learn from those mortifying encounters. Emergency preparedness is the key to survival.  If there’s anything you want to add to this list of tips, feel free to hit us through the comments below.

Using the Holidays to Build Your Prepper Stockpile

Holidays Prepper Stockpile

The holidays can be a great time to add much needed supplies to your prepper stockpile. Check out the post below to learn how you can stock up on the essentials.

How to Prepare Your Prepper Stockpile

While millions upon millions of Americans are throwing their money away on a bunch of useless garbage, smart preppers are using the season to become better prepared. For those looking to build their emergency stockpiles, this is one of the best times of the year to get started.

Most grocery stores are offering deep discounts on certain types of food this time of year; fortunately for preppers, many of these items store very well for long periods of time, making this the perfect opportunity to grow your emergency stockpiles.

1. Look online for coupons.

Start researching who is selling what and then going online to see if you can find coupons to further increase your savings. Websites like the Krazy Coupon Lady allow you to break it down by store and product.

2. Search for local deals.

Search for local deals in your mail circulars, and keep track of deals when you’re out doing your normal shopping.

3. Check the bigger websites.

Don’t forget to use sites like Amazon to search for holiday deals. The great thing about these sites is many local stores will now price match the items you find online.

While many of the products sold this time of year are geared towards the holidays, many of the products can be used throughout the year. For instance, every year right after Christmas I usually stock up on Candles. I can usually buy a couple hundred different candles for the price of one good emergency candle. Yes, they are usually holiday colored candles; but during a power outage or grid-down emergency, I doubt I’m going to care what color or what scent the candles are.

Discounted Holiday Foods

Over the next month or so, most grocery stores are going to have deep discounts on seasonal foods, common baking and cooking ingredients, and even different types of meats. If you can afford it, you might want to invest in a large chest/deep freezerUsing the Holidays to Build Your Prepper Stockpile. The money you spend now will save you thousands in the long run, because you will be able to buy all your meats when they are on sale, instead of buying them at inflated prices throughout the year.

Discounted Freezer Goods

Frozen Turkeys: This is the time of year to stock up on turkey. From stores giving away free ones if you spend a certain amount of money, to deeply discounted turkeys once the holidays pass, turkey is a good thing to stock up on. An unopened turkey can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 years, but for best taste it should be cooked within a year of being put into storage.

Frozen Hams: As we get closer to Christmas, you should start to see deals on holiday hams. This is another item that freezes well, and will last at least until next season.

Butter: If you find a deal on butter, stock up! Butter freezes very well without any loss in taste, quality, or texture. Frozen butter will keep up to one year.

Dry Goods with Long Shelf Lives

Canned Foods: Canned vegetables, cranberry sauce and pumpkin are all things that can be picked up at a fraction of the cost this time of year. Most canned goods will last for 2-5 years; look for cans with the furthest out expiration dates.

Baking & Cooking Ingredients: Spices, sugar, yeast, flour, and cake mixes should all be deeply discounted. Most of these items will last for years, and certain flours could last for over a decade if stored properly.

Other Items to Stock Up On

Alcohol: Even if you don’t drink, alcohol is an important preparedness item. From medicinal uses and cooking purposes to bartering products during a full-scale collapse, there are a number of reasons to stock up on liquor — not to mention the fact that most hard liquors will store indefinitely.

Socks, Underwear & Blankets: Around Christmas time, these things are always deeply discounted and sometimes sold as door-buster items at below their cost. Remember, we are not wasting money; instead, we are stocking up on long-term consumables and items that we know we will need in the future.

Prepping doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg; the holidays can be a great time to stock up on everything you need to make it through the next year. While most people are out losing money this time of year, those who are smart use the season to save money and protect their future.

Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

safety-and-security-measures-youre-missing-when-outdoors

Camping and hiking are two pleasurable activities we can do outdoors. The thrill and excitement that the wild are memorable experiences for everyone. But let’s get one thing straight here. The outdoors will never ever be safe, even if you in an enclosed national park. It holds many dangers that can threaten you and your companion’s safety. From wild animal attacks to unforgiving terrain, we need to be reminded of the following safety and security measures that we can take when we’re outdoors.

This post comes from our good friends over at OutdoorWarrior.com and is shared with permission.

Safety And Security Measures To Help Keep You Safe

If you ask me,there is something about nature and the great outdoors that’s very therapeutic. But we always have to remember that we are in the wild and danger lurks in every corner of the woods, from wild animals to dangerous terrain to unpredictable weather conditions. Therefore to prevent the unexpected from happening, we must be prepared all the time. Listed below are some of the tips and security measures that we need to do so that the fun will continue until the end of your trip. You probably know some of these tips but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to be reminded for your safety.

1. Bring A Friend

Bring A Friend | Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

image via pixabay

I know there are instances when  you want to travel alone and explore the world on your own. But having a companion is much safer, especially if you’re not that familiar with the place. Remember 127 Hours with James Franco? Having responsible camping and hiking buddies does not only add fun to your trip but there will be someone to look after you in case of an emergency. And don’t forget to tell someone back home where you are going so that they’ll know where to find you if something unpleasant happened.

2. Check Physical Condition

Check Physical Condition | Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

Before you embark into a strenuous activity such as hiking, you need to be physically fit and mentally prepared. This is not an easy activity and it requires the right amount of physical and  mental conditioning. Don’t ever attempt this vigorous pursuit if you have a medical condition. But if you’re an adventurer by heart and nothing can stop you then do it with supervision.

3. Appropriate Clothing Is A Must

Appropriate Clothing Is A Must | Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

image via Real World EDC

You need to wear the right clothes for this occasion. Wear something that’s comfortable yet can protect you from harsh weather conditions.  You don’t want to wear summer clothes if you’re going to hike the Andes mountains.

4. Inspect Equipment

Inspect Equipment | Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

image via behance

Before any trip, you need to check every equipment that you’ll bring. Test everything first if it’s working properly. You don’t want to ruin the whole trip because you suddenly found out that one of them is broken. Be sure to pack signaling devices like flares.

5. Be Aware Of the Weather

You need to be aware of the weather before the hike or climb. Check weather reports every now and then so you will be guided, so you’ll be able to decide on what to pack or if the hike or climb is worth pursuing. Always be reminded of the saying “it’s better to be safe than sorry”.

6. Knowledge In Basic First Aid Is Required

Carrying a first aid kit whenever you’re camping or hiking is not an option. Rather it is a must. Basic knowledge in administering first aid in an emergency situation is advantageous especially when help is hours away from where the accident happened.

7. Camp Before Nightfall

Camp Before Nightfall | Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

Camp Before Nightfall | Safety And Security Measures You’re Missing When Outdoors

You need to set up your camp before nightfall. This is to avoid any injury that might occur when traveling in the dark. You also might want to consider setting up camp far from cliff edges to ensure your safety. One of the security measures you need to keep in mind when camping in the dark is to have adequate lighting. Be sure that your flashlight or headlamp is within your reach because it’s difficult to move in the dark.

8. Think Before You Act

When you’re out in the woods or on a hike,  avoid getting drunk or inebriated. Safety is your number one concern all throughout the trip, and unlike the city proper, one small misstep in the woods can be fatal.

Watch this video from BackpackingTV for more info on how to be safe and prepared in trails :

Safety should always be in the mind of a great outdoorsman. Follow every security measures to have an awesome trip and an adventure you won’t regret and forget. Stay guarded and protected all the time whenever you’re out in woods and having the time of your life. Being wise, prepared and staying safe can make the entire experience something to cherish about. If you have anything you want to include on this list of tips, tell us through the comments below. Have a safe trip y’all!

Quick Buyer’s Guide to Imported AK Market

wasr_featured

ak-47The Presidential Election, mass shootings and terror attacks on our soil have touched off a “mini-panic”, not quite the size or scale we saw in 2013 after Sandy Hook.  This mini-panic has again focused the attention of would-be gun owners, and current owners of two type of firearms: handguns and semi-auto rifles.  The two most popular platforms of rifles right now flying off store shelves are of the course the AR-15 and it’s many variants, and the many AK type rifles.

By Zach Dunn a Contributing Author to SHTFBlog and SurvivalCache

This is not an article debating the superiority of either of these rifles.  I’ve written this to provide a quick buyer’s guide for anyone looking to buy their first AK.  With several of these rifles available on the US market, I am going to focus on just a few “every man’s rifles”.  The criteria being a rifle must be affordable, reliable, well built, and reasonably accurate.

The Avtomat Kalashnikova (AK)

Mikhail Kalashnikov designed his world changing rifle during the closing days of World War II and it was adopted by the Soviet Military in 1947.  Since then, the number of AK-47s, AKMs, and AK-74 rifles and their many variants are estimated to be between 150-200 million throughout the world as of 2016.

viet_cong_ak47The AK first came to America in large numbers starting in the 1980s.  For 3 decades, it was the semi-auto rifle just about anyone could afford with prices under $400.  I bought my first Romanian AK, a WASR-10/63 in 2007 for $350.  Up until a few years ago, you could still get an AK for around $4-500, sadly those days are gone.  The AK’s reputation as being a reliable rifle has strongly resonated with millions of American shooters, who in turn own millions of AK type rifles.  Though not as popular in the US as the AR-15, the AK is not going anywhere. The AK rifles in America fall into 2 distinct groups: imports, and domestic built rifles. In This article, we will be discussing AK series rifles currently imported into the United States.

Current Import Rifles

These are the rifles that I recommend for purchase.  The reason being they are made the way a Kalashnikov pattern rifle should be.  The trunnions are forged from solid hunks of steel as are the bolt carriers.  The barrels are cold hammer forged, and most of them are chrome lined.  CHF chrome lined barrels are known to last well over 50,000 rounds, with cases of over 100,000 rounds reported.  With the current geopolitical system, the AK import market in America is limited.  That said, there are still some very solid options available.

The WASR-10: for years the WASR-10 was derided as just a cheap rifle.  Early versions were known for canted sights and even canted barrels.  But WASRs worked, didn’t jam and were affordable.  For the price of less than $400, you could have a solid semi-auto rifle, 2 magazines, and a bayonet.  American shooter bought them by the truckload.

century_arms_wasr-10After years of complaints, most of the WASRs problems have gone away and new canted rifles are rare.  The WASR is made by Cugir (pronounced Soo-gar) in Romania and is imported by Century Arms.  WASRs are in nearly every way a mil-spec AK built on the same production lines as AKMs for the Romanian military and exports.  The only noticeable differences are the lack of dimples on its stamped receiver and a single stack bolt.  The WASR-10 enter America in the single stack magazine configuration, the mag wells are widened to accept standard AK double stack magazines and some US parts added.  Beyond this, it is an AKM.  Reliability is very high, and most rifles that are now imported are very straight.

Even with the better quality, when buying a WASR it is prudent to inspect the rifle and make sure the sights, barrel, and trunnions are straight, and the rivets look good.  Additionally, some rifles imported in 2015 had extractor issues, it is a very easy fix taking less than 10 minutes to replace the old extractor with a new one.  At the time of this writing expect to pay between $650 and $800 for a new WASR.  Cost:  Expect to pay between $600-720 on a new WASR, prices are coming down after the election cycle.

Romanian M10/RH10: Think of it as a WASR (which it is), with better fit and finish, and a front sight with integrated front sight.  Offered by M+M as the M10, and imported by Century as the RH10 both offerings are the same firearm.  Folding stocks, AR style flash hider, and polymer stock all are geared towards the tactical shooter or AR-15 owner.  Cost: Average price is hovering around $700-750.

7-6239_imageArsenal: has built a reputation as a solid AK builder, and it is often held up as the best imported AK in the US.  Arsenal imports rifles built at the Arsenal Factory in Bulgaria and before 2014, also imported rifles Russian-made rifles as well.  Their SLR and SAM rifles have built a solid reputation amongst US shooters and collectors as solid, battle ready rifles.  SLR rifles come with a stamped receiver chambered in 7.62x39mm, 5.45x39mm or 5.56x45mm.  SAM rifles are built in the original AK-47 style with a forged receiver.

The only complaints that have gained any traction with Arsenal firearms are that the price tag is steep, and when compared to a new WASR, the reliability is about the same.  The fit and finish of the Arsenal are undoubtedly better, though there are reports of bubbling paint (does not affect rifles’ performance).  Cost: SLR Series will cost between $1000-1200, SAM will be north of $1200.

Zastava: Another extremely popular current import rifle is the N-Pap rifles made by Zastava in Serbia.  Zastava has been producing and exporting M70 series AK rifles to the US since the 1980s when American Arms and Mitchell Arms first started importing them in the late 1980s.  Zastava rifles are now, like WASRs, imported by Century Arms International.  Zastava rifles come with a cold hammer forged barrel and is built with forged trunnions. The barrel, however, is not chrome lined.

New Zastava N-Paps have a mixed reputation.  Their predecessor, the O-Pap rifles had solid reputations. However, N-Pap rifles are known to have poor receivers that stress crack after several thousand rounds. Battlefield Las Vegas has pulled N-Paps off their rental lines after many of their rifles experienced stress cracks in their receivers.  Cost: $650-700.

atfVEPR: In 2014, Obama and the ATF banned the importation of certain arms and ammunition from the Russian Federation.  This included Saiga rifles which were based on the Russian AKM and AK-74.  Saiga rifles were commonly rebuilt and converted to near mil-spec configuration.  When the ban fell, the only remaining Russian-built AKM style rifle that was legal for import was the Vepr.  Veprs are known for their high quality, fit, and finish.  They are built with the same forged trunnions and cold hammer forged chrome lined barrels that AKs around the world are known for.

Veprs are a little different than other AKMs, in that they are RPK style rifles.  Meaning they have a thicker receiver and trunnions and are very close to the Russian RPK family of light machine guns.

A Vepr can be purchased in both the uncovered sporting configuration or converted into an AKM style rifle.  If purchased in the imported sporting configuration, some work will need to be done to convert the rifle to handle double stack standard AK magazines.  Cost: An unconverted Vepr will run between $680-800, fully converted expect to pay $1100-1300.

Winter Storm Warning! Surviving a Winter Storm Trapped Outside

winter-storm

Winter weather can go from beautiful to deadly in a matter of hours. Whether you’re on the road or in the wilderness on a winter camping trip, it’s important to know how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe when a winter storm warning is in effect and until the storm passes.

According to Farmers’ Almanac, the winter season for 2016-17 is expected to be much colder this year as opposed to last year.

Staying Safe If You Are Trapped Outside

Stay Inside Your Car or Tent During A Winter Storm Warning

When the snow starts piling up and it becomes clear that you’re stuck on the road or at your campsite, your best bet is to stay there. Venturing out in the snow increases the mortality rate in this type of survival situation. Since visibility is usually close to zero during heavy snowfall and the temperature/winds are unpredictable it’s not worth the risk. Hunker down and plan to wait out the storm.

If you’re with other people, do not send a person out for help. This is extremely risky and dangerous! It’s important to stay together until the storm has passed or you’re rescued.

If you’re stuck outside without a car or tent, it’s imperative that you find some sort of shelter. Seek out a cave or an overhang. You can also look for a tarp and other materials you can use to fashion a shelter. If all else fails, build a snow cave to serve as insulation.

Keep Warm and Dry

Keep the windows rolled up or the tent flap closed while you’re inside. Wrap your coat, blanket, tarp, or any other type of material you have with you around your body to stay warm and to prevent frostbite and hypothermia. A buddy system is always a good idea in winter weather so if you’re with another person, use each other’s body heat by huddling together.

If you’re out in the wilderness, build a fire close by to keep warm and to serve as a signal for rescue.

If you’re in the car, let the engine run with the heat on to stay warm. However, it’s very important that you don’t keep the engine running. If the exhaust pipe clogs with snow as this could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, which is deadly!

Stay Hydrated

This is a very important way to keep your body healthy while you’re trapped. If you don’t have a water supply, stay hydrated by melting snow and drinking it. Put some in a container and melt it using the fire you built or by utilizing your car’s heater.

Do not eat snow as this is harmful to the body. Eating snow will lower your core body temperature which can lead to hypothermia. Melt the snow and drink it instead. If you have food, ration it to make it last over several days. Eat small amounts at a time.

Determine What To Do When The Storm Is Over

When the winter storm warning is over, snowfall ends and the sun comes back out, your physical state will help you determine what comes next. You may be able to dig your way out of your car or tent/shelter. If that seems impossible, wait for help to arrive. A situation such as this is why it is so important to always carry a small shovel inside your vehicle; especially in the winter months!

If you’re on a road, you can be fairly sure help will come soon. People have survived for over a week waiting for help in the car, so sit tight.

If you’re in the wilderness and are afraid no one will find you, you may have to hike to safety on your own. Get your bearings and set out in the direction of civilization. A situation such as this is why you should always carry a compass and a map. If you have been trapped for a few days (or longer), chances are your cell phone is dead – which means no access to Google Maps.

Seek Medical Treatment If Necessary

If you or someone in your group becomes hypothermic, remove cold, wet clothes immediately and put on dry clothes. For complete information on the signs and medical care for hypothermia check out my previous article, Surviving Hypothermia: What To Do Until Medical Help Arrives.
