Make Your Own Altoids Urban Survival Kit
When it comes to urban survival, you can never be too prepared. Street smarts are important, but a great survivalist knows to always have a backup plan.
Luckily, this urban survival kit will keep you prepared at all times. This pocket-sized kit may be small, but don’t let its size fool you. It contains all the supplies you’ll need in case of emergency – and it’s great for preppers on the go.
What You’ll Need for Your Altoids Urban Survival Kit:
- Empty Altoids tin
- 2 rubber bands
- Pre-moistened lens wipe
- USB flash drive
- Chapstick
- Cash, rolled with rubber band
- 2-pack of ibuprofen
- 4-5 quarters
- 4-5 safety pins, various sizes
Altoids Urban Survival Kit List:
1. Altoids tin & rubber bands
Begin with an empty Altoids tin and two rubber bands to secure the tin shut.
2. Pre-moistened lens wipe
These individually wrapped wipes are great for disinfecting skin and other surfaces, and they take up almost no space.
3. USB flash drive
Pre-load a USB flash drive with your driver’s license and emergency contact information. Important: Be sure to encrypt your flash drive so that these sensitive files are protected if they fall into the wrong hands.
4. Chapstick
Protect your lips from the sun and wind with a tube of Chapstick (the higher the SPF, the better). Check out this previous article for additional uses for Chapstick.
5. Cash
Keep an emergency fund in your survival kit by rolling up a few bills with a rubber band.
6. Ibuprofen
A two-pack of ibuprofen is a lifesaver for pain relief. Keep a pack or two in your survival kit just in case.
7. Quarters
If disaster strikes and your phone is lost or out of service, you’ll need a few quarters for a payphone.
8. Safety pins
Safety pins are small, lightweight, and incredibly versatile. Keep a few of varying sizes in your survival kit – they’re great for repairs and first aid.
